Olympus Ultra is an ultra-distance trail running race on Mount Olympus, which has distance 71km and elevation gain +5550m and is one of the most difficult races in Greece.
This year Olympus Ultra will be held for the 5th time. The start will be given at 00:00 midnight on Saturday 29 June 2024 from the Archaeological Park in Dion. The lowest point of the race is 3m above sea level and the highest at 2910m.
The athletes have the opportunity to enjoy the route which passes through many beautiful and impressive points, such as the passage of Papa Rema, the uphill to the Barbala peak at 1840m in the early hours of the morning with a fantastic view towards the North Face of Mount Olympus, the ascent through the Xerolakki, the largest stream of Mount Olympus, and then to the second highest peak of Mount Olympus, Skolio, at 2910m, a persistent descent to Prionia, and ups and downs in the Enipeas Canyon next to the crystal clear frozen waters of the river.
In essence, the race route moves around the highest peaks of Mount Olympus, thus offering a unique experience for those who will take part in the race.
In 2022 the route was partially changed due to a Presidential Decree for the protection, preservation and management of nature and the landscape as a natural and cultural heritage of Olympus.
